2005各台11月sweeps重頭戲

Two of Demi Moore's three husbands agree: It's good to be on TV during November sweeps.

Ashton Kutcher and Bruce Willis are among the big names turning up on the tube during the big ratings period, running Thursday through Nov. 30.

Here's a look at sweeps highlights, some of which do not include men who are, or were, married to Moore:

VERY SPECIAL EPISODES: Cuts (Thursday, UPN): Omarion begins a guest-star stint. Pray for him. The West Wing (Sunday, NBC): Jimmy Smits and Alan Alda vie for viewers' votes, not to mention a plum prime-time job, in an aired-live debate. Supernatural (Tuesday, WB): Just when you thought you were safe because Fear Factor doesn't return until December: "A swarm of insects attack a community." That '70s Show (Wednesday, Fox): Ashton Kutcher's back--and Kelso's bellbottoms have him! Kutcher's return to the sitcom from whence he came runs through the following week (Nov. 16), when he shares guest-star billing with Bruce Willis and talks about God knows what with the man backstage. America's Next Top Model (Wednesday, UPN): In a bit of programming synchronicity, a Tyra Banks charge is selected to appear on the Veronica Mars airing right after Top Model. Joey (Nov. 10, NBC): Brave Ellen DeGeneres boards this sinking ship, guest starring as her buoyant talk show host self. The Apprentice (Nov. 10, NBC): Darth Vader, sorry, Donald Trump dispatches his troops to Lucasfilm to help market the DVD release of Star Wars: Episode III--Revenge of the Sith and the videogame release of Star Wars: Battlefront II. The Biggest Loser (Nov. 29, NBC): A new diet champ is crowned. Pizza for everyone!

HOLIDAY TRIMMINGS: Grey's Anatomy (Nov. 20, ABC): Dr. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) hosts her first TV Thanksgiving. Snow Wonder (Nov. 20, CBS): A magical Christmas Eve storm delivers a miracle to Jason Priestley--like, a TV-movie gig. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (Nov. 24, NBC): Children everywhere will delight in the helium balloon debut of the U.S. Potato Board's Healthy Mr. Potato Head. Silver Bells (Nov. 27, CBS): In this Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation, Anne Heche and Tate Donovan play two widowers. Happy holidays! Commander in Chief (Nov. 29, ABC): It's hijinks, White House-style, when "Mac [Geena Davis] has more than Thanksgiving turkey on her plate," including a visit from--uh-oh!--Mom (Polly Bergen). As an added bonus, Mark-Paul Gosselaar joins the cast. Christmas in Rockefeller Center (Nov. 30, NBC): New York City gets lit up. In a merry way.

PREMIERES/RETURNS: Arrested Development (Monday, Fox): The ratings- and otherwise-cursed comedy returns from its World Series slumber with a one-hour episode and plenty of guest stars--Charlize Theron! Scott Baio!--to keep up the spirits of the damned. Stacked (Wednesday, Fox): Pamela Anderson embarks on her second sitcom season. Ex-fiance Kid Rock guest stars just to show there's no hard feelings.

SPECIALS: Carlin: Life Is Worth Losing (Saturday, HBO): Comic George Carlin does his thing, uncensored, for 75 minutes. Penn & Teller: Off the Deep End (Nov. 13, NBC): The magic duo tweak David Copperfield, and make a submarine disappear. Saturday Night Live in the '80s: Lost and Found (Nov. 13, NBC): This two-hour documentary recalls the comedy show during the Reagan and Eddie Murphy administrations. I Walk the Line: A Night for Johnny Cash (Nov. 16, CBS): Sheryl Crow, U2, the Foo Fighters and more perform songs made famous by Joaquin Phoenix in the upcoming biopic I Walk the Line, of which copious clips will be shown even though Fox made the movie, and not CBS' corporate cousins at Paramount. Untitled Faith Hill Music Special: (Nov. 23, NBC): The country-pop singer sings--in Los Angeles, if that makes the program sound more enticing. Kenny Chesney: Somewhere in the Sun (Nov. 23, ABC): Sadly, this concert special will not shed light on the hat act's busted marriage to Renee Zellweger. Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2005 (Nov. 29, ABC): Tom Cruise and Michael Jackson make the cut, signaling a paradigm shift wherein "fascinating" means "odd."

TV MOVIES: Category 7: The End of the World (Sunday and Nov. 13, CBS): Producers weren't kidding around when they sicced Category 6 on Chicago last year. This time, the rest of Earth--even the part where Shannon Doherty lives--is threatened with extinction. Happy holidays! The Poseidon Adventure (Nov. 20, NBC): A three-hour remake of the 1972 disaster classic--new and improved, now with terrorists! Felicity: An American Girl Adventure (Nov. 29, WB): Another American Girl doll gets its--or her--own telepic. This one's set in the colonies on the eve of the Revolutionary War. It boasts an Oscar-winning actor (Marcia Gay Harden) and promises "heartwarming family drama," which might be desperately needed in the wake of Category 7 and The Poseidon Adventure.
